- I couldn’t find any review on slow cookers that mentioned a family of 7, so I had to decide between 6qt or 8qt. I went with this 8qt knowing my boys are getting older, therefore they will eat more. It’s perfect for our size family. I always have to double recipes, so a 4qt was never sufficient for us. Now I can make soups, stews, and chili in it, not just meatballs or a dip. If it is less than half full it does cook hotter than when it’s full. That is normal, but you should be aware of that when leaving the house while cooking. It does not heat up my kitchen, everything turns out perfectly, it’s easy to clean. Would definitely buy again.
- I owned a Wolfgang Puck Slow Cooker, and made the mistake of putting my crock on a hot burner. I looked at quite a few cookers, but this one seemed to be the best value for the money, and I thought the crock might fit my old cooker as well. I cooked pulled pork in this new one yesterday, it turned out great, and as a bonus, it does fit my old one perfectly, even though it’s deeper and holds much more, so now I have a back-up. If you have a lot of people to feed, or like to make large batches and freeze some for later, this one can’t be beat for capacity and price!
- Seeing that I have never owned or used a slow cooker before, I might not be the best one to review this but all I can say is it met all my expectations and it works perfectly. And you can’t beat the price! The first thing I made in it was pulled pork barbecue and it came out great. I was afraid, from reading some of the reviews, that it would cook too fast even on low but it didn’t. Low is low on this one. I have not tried anything on the high temp yet, but so far so good. If anything changes, I’ll update my review.
- I am so pleased with this Crockpot! For my first meal in it I made Chicken Vegetable Soup. I cooked 9 boneless chicken breasts, with many different cup up veggies! After 6 hours I shredded the chicken and it was so good….and it fed a lot of people. This is great when you need to feed a lot of people…like during the holidays, birthday celebrations or church functions…etc. Cleaning it was very easy with the removable Crock insert. Crock Pot cooker Bags fit in it also. Those are nice to use for easy clean up. NOTE: At first when I plugged it in it was smoking a little bit and had a burning smell, but what I read online is that is sometimes normal when you first heat it up. It quit after awhile.
- Very best slow cooker. I am definitely happy with my slow cooker. It’s definitely worth the money. Good quality love the handle that holds the lid. Absolutely nothing wrong with this cooker. There’s alotta room in this 8 quarts.
- Used it for Thanksgiving to do slow cooking for pork loin. Pull apart meat when ready to eat. With the large size more than just meat can cook.
- I purchased an 8 quart Hamilton Beach slow cooker (model # 33183) with “8 quart capacity” clearly stated on the box. However, on opening it seemed rather small so I checked and the capacity was only 6.5 quarts up to the lid. I needed a full 8 quarts so I re-boxed it and returned it. I am disappointed that the capacity was misrepresented.
