Reviews

  • I procrastinated before buying this set having read some mixed reviews, but I’m very glad I bought it as it’s an extremely enjoyable build and it looks superb when completed-much better than any photographs I have seen and in fact it was seeing it ‘in the flesh’ in a Lego shop and thinking ‘wow’ that convinced me to buy it. Yes the build is a touch repetitive given that the tie fighter is entirely symmetrical, but I still enjoyed it because of the genius of the design-which is very impressive in places, particularly the way the wings attach to the body-this fixing really is rock solid and ingenious. It’s not as long a build as other recent UCS sets, but again this doesn’t detract from the pleasure. I only have three UCS sets (Sandcrawler, Slave 1 and now the Tie Fighter) as I have only recently returned to building Lego, but on its stand with the information plaque and mini figure this really looks the business! If you are undecided about this set I say go for it-I wasn’t disappointed!!
  • The Tie Figher is fun to build, although a bit easy and repetitive as said in other reviews. Looks great on the shelf and can be played with as it is very sturdy. A big minus is the stickers that already are coming off in the corners one day after completing the model. Maybe I got a bad sample. Pros – Exclusive minifigure – Some large printed pieces – Fun to build – Looks great Cons – The stickers! – Easy to build (if thats a minus is up to you)
  • I was pleasantly surprised by how large this set is and the great attention to detail. A must have for any Star Wars lego fan!
  • This was the first “big” set I’ve ever bought, until now everything was for my children. I was not disappointed. It was fun to build and looks great on my bookshelf. I’m using this and the X-wing fighter as bookends.
  • Had the main cockpit area put together and almost both solar panels put together. Left it for a few days because of work and came back and my 6 yr old scavenged it for parts for his ‘ships’. Was looking really good and will probably try to rebuy it in the future so I can actually put it together. Right now focusing on smaller sets with my son, he loves star wars legos. Only con I had was the black pieces for the solar panels would not stay in, they kept popping off, was going to fix it with superglue but that was kinda frustrating. Loved the set though
  • After I read all the reviews, I felt a little biased. Maybe I am the only one realized the black plates are 2 different textures, one is shinny and the other one is matte. It did not look well to me on display. Also, most of the black plates are scratched, scarred, and chipped. I don’t know if I am the only one having these problems, but I just want buyers to be aware.
