- I purchased two of these units as part of a garage make-over project that was long overdue. The Pros: the shelving is strong, sturdy and looks very nice when put together…kind of an industrial look, which I like. The Cons: the boxes they came in and several of the pieces were a little marred and beat-up. Two of the shelves were bent and required vice-grips to get them straightened out. I purchased 3 additional shelves from Lowes, which fit and matched perfectly. The pieces require quite a bit of hammering with a rubber mallet to get the pieces to fit together correctly and completely. It does go together OK but it requires a little patience and time…much longer than they say it requires to put together. When they were finished, they looked great and did a fabulous job getting my garage cleaned up and organized. I would recommend to anyone who is a little handy putting things together.
- The directions were very poor. However, once frustrated, we went on youtube and found a video by another customer and then the assembly went smoothly. Other than that, a great unit! Definantely recommended!
- I purchased two of these shelving units for my garage and was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to assemble. I did it by myself, without any tools, in less than 20 minutes each – the most time consuming part was getting them out of the box! Super sturdy, super BIG and stupid easy to assemble. Don’t let the weight on the box (100 lbs.) deter you from ordering these if you need lots of shelving space – did I mention they are STUPID EASY to assemble??
- Shopped every place: Lowes, Home Depot, on line, etc. Hate to say it, but WalMart was best price AND provided Prompt, FREE, home delivery. I assembled by myself (55 yr. old female). Opened box in garage and carried one piece at a time. Took me a bit to grasp how to do it, but once it “clicked” all was ok. My pieces fit well. I did have a rubber mallet on hand which I used once or twice. Didn’t need to “adjust” anything, thankfully. Shelves are sturdy. Sizing is true. Indusrial look but I have them in a laundry room. Floor can be used as “bottom shelf” making it a four shelf unit, or I think you can actually purchase additional shelves if you like. Metal grates of shelves themselve are wide (as advertised) so you may choose to put some sort of a layer ( plexiglass, plastic lining, or cardboard on it) if you have small items to store.
- They delivered these very heavy shelves to my house. They were a bit difficult to assemble but I am very not handy. A neighbor helped by supervising. walmart.com is the bomb. What a fantastic way to shop, including in store too. I get almost everything there. Their clothes are fantastic too.
- These are nice and sturdy and would have been easy to assemble if they hadn’t been damaged. I wish I would have been home when they were delivered so I could have refused the shipment. The box was crushed on one end and had been re-taped. I don’t know if the shipper taped them or if they were sent from Walmart or Edsal like this. The vertical posts were bent at one end and my husband had to do a lot of hammer work to get the shelves to attached properly as this affected the whole unit. It was too large to mess around with returning it so we made it work. Free shipping isn’t worth the frustration of receiving damaged merchandise.
- The item was damaged when it arrived. One of the upright beams was bent I would assume during shipping. The item is not as sturdy as it would appear to be online.
