Reviews
- I’d been researching and reading all reviews for the LG 9300 for the last six months. Then the new 9100 appeared with great reviews also and included an updated, faster system. For the small difference in price I figured newer is better. I finally broke down and purchased this last week. Best Buy delivered yesterday, mounted and set up for me. I am thrilled with it! The look of the curve above my fireplace to the clearness of the picture and vividness of colors is perfect. As others have mentioned, you can view this TV from any angle and it looks great. Best Buy service was fantastic from Kevin in the store who was very knowledgable and accomodating to the Geek squad yesterday. I will be returning this week to purchase a 3d player to take full advantage of the TV’s features and wow my grandchildren. Bottom line, this TV and Best Buy will NOT disappoint!
- I always owned Plasmas TVs from Samsung and Panasonic because of its rich colors, deep blacks and close to what a movie would be like. I would NEVER buy LED because it looks so fake. Now that Plasmas are no longer manufactured I turned to OLED. This is the best TV I ever have…PERIOD!!! Is the first TV that looks like is off when the picture goes blank during a movie or between commercials. No more gray blacks. You can buy it on 4K if you like but at 55″ you won’t notice the difference between the two unless you are one foot from the screen. Make sure you go to settings right away and change the picture from the energy saver garbage to Cinema mode. Try the others if you like but Cinema looks the most life like of all. The picture is unbelievable and is not even calibrated yet. I cannot wait to calibrate it. BTW…make sure you calibrate this bad boy after 100 hour of use and you will really get all there is out of it. If you spent $1999 + tax and you won’t spend $199 on calibration why buy it in the first place. The TV can be hang on your wall if you already have a mount that can slide sideways independently and BB also included the LG wall mount but need it to be send UPS. I hang it by my self since is only 36 lbs. You most watch AVATAR in 3D with this OLED. My wife was going crazy for the first time after watching the same movie several times in 3D before. 3D is unbelievable here. There is nothing wrong with this TV that I can tell except I cannot comment on how it sounds because mine is connected to my Anthem Reciever. Great colors and sharpness. The people skins look natural out of the box (not calibrated). Awesome, perfect, perfect…perfect blacks. Super thin and lightweight. The remote is great to use. Even when I didn’t have the time to download the latest software…it dit it by itself and then notify me. Great OS. I wish it was not curved but after hang it…it actually looks cool and panoramic. The curb is not a deal breaker. This is the best TV I ever owned and there is no other way to watch TV for me other than OLED.
- I’ve looked at a lot of different possible options to replace our aging Plasma. While there are no issues with it, the glare is often a problem. I was looking to purchase the LG EC9300 however it seems there were some complaints of motion judder and color uniformity. I held off until the successor (this one) was released and I will say the EG9100 seems perfect. It is expensive but you truly get what you pay for. Colors are stunning, you really have to see it to believe it. This has a significant anti-glare coating which really is effective in minimizing glare from the open windows in the room. The setup wizard and overall user interface is the best I’ve seen as well on any TV, very easy to get it setup and the smart features working. My only real complaint is the “curve”, I’d prefer if this fad would just die but whatever, perhaps LG could offer curved and flat models simultaneously. OLED Longevity is still to be determined. For the (late 2015 price) of this TV, I certainly hope it lasts for several years without any degradation in picture quality. I’m not sure on the speakers as I have not tested them yet as I use a separate sound system.
- If you’re looking for probably the best 55 inch 1080P TV then this is it. It has beautiful vivid colors, high contrast and inky black levels. Standard picture setting worked great out of the box. I would have preferred a flat screen but the very slight curve of this sets screen does not jump out at you. Off angle viewing is very good. Tilting wall mount is easy to install and works as advertised. New remote software is much more responsive then that on the EC9300 which I returned to purchase this TV. Purchased at Best Buy for $1999.
- This is a gorgeous TV. The curved screen is attractive and eye-catching, and the image quality is remarkable. My wife compared it to looking out a window.
